Does mpc auto render videos? Am trying to avoid my rubbish cpu

While it does have LAV Filters built in, you can gain more control over it installing the external version (which is usually more up to date): https://github.com/Nevcairiel/LAVFilters/releases

Once that's installed in MPC's settings disable all the internal filters, and in external filters pick LAV splitter, LAV splitter source, LAV video decoder and LAV audio decoder as preferred.

Once that's done, open the start menu to find LAV filter settings and select video configuration. Under "Hardware Decoder" to use, you will want to pick "Nvidia CUVID".

Now play a video, and while it's playing press Ctril + J. This will tell you what decoder it's using as well as the CPU and GPU load.

I'm using an AMD card with the above settings (except on DXVA2 copy-back) and I see 0%/1% CPU usage while playing videos.

EDIT: Testing with some 10-bit videos, I do get around 5% CPU usage but it will depend on your system specs.

Most impressive Orcvader cheers. I've been using MPC-BE for yonks and just the built in splitter and filters but having just installed LAV I've noticed the following with my nVidia card when playing 720P or 1080P videos:

MPC filters: GPU usage at full screen (3440x1440) = ~24-30% // CPU usage at full screen = 0%
LAV filters: GPU usage at full screen (3440x1440) = ~4% // CPU usage at full screen = 0%

not that I needed lower GPU/CPU usage anyway but it's nice to have things so efficient :D

I'm liking the audio filter settings too with dedicated clipping protection which the MPC filters didn't have nor did AC3 filter or FFDShow which I've used in the past.
