Hi,I am struggling to find the relevant information on the manufacturer website for my motherboard.

Motherboard is: Asus ROG Strix B450i
CPU is: Ryzen 3900X

Google is telling me that I should be able to run the M2 drive at PCI-E Gen 4.0 as it will utilise the lanes off the CPU directly, but I cannot seem to find any documentation on the asus site on if this is the case and if I need to perform a bios update or such to enable this.

Does anyone here know?

Doesn't look like it, the specs suggest it's PCIE3. Will need a B550 for PCIE4

AMD Ryzen™ 2nd Generation/ Ryzen™ 1st Generation Processors :
1 x M.2 Socket 3, with M key, type 2242/2260/2280 storage devices support (PCIE 3.0 x 4 mode)*1
AMD Ryzen™ with Radeon™ Vega Graphics Processor : *2
AMD B450 chipset :
4 x SATA 6Gb/s port(s),
1 x M.2 Socket 3, with M key, type 2242/2260/2280 storage devices support (SATA & PCIE 3.0 x 4 mode)
1 x M.2 Socket 3, with M key, type 2242/2260/2280 storage devices support (SATA mode)
Support Raid 0, 1, 10

You can still run PCIE4.0 NVMEs though, it'll just use PCIE3 speeds.

Try bios 2602 as it was enabled on early bios but then AMD blocked it to up sell X570.
Thanks for the info! You are correct. Bios 2703 removed gen 4.0 support
