Does OS matter?

Excluding Linux for a second, is there a difference between Windows XP, 2000 and Vista?

eg. Does Vista take longer to crunch a wu becuase it uses more resources compared to Windows XP?

I dont have any objective proof but no, I dont think it would make a tangible difference which version of Windows you are using.

win98se crunched about 5-7% faster that XP pro with standard units. (that's based on before ppd figures after a OS upgrade on my previous 805D home rig
No personally experance with vista

x64 XP is a little faster than x64 Vista.

Yeah, there was a difference between 98 and XP but I don't think there is much to choose between between XP and vista. I trialled vista on my PC but for a number of reasons went back down to XP.
