I have a normal mobo "Foxconn G33M05 with Viiv" (Mobo came with case) and was wondering if I can overclock the graphics card without running into problems?
I have a BFG Nvidia GeForce 9800 GTX.
P.s. What would you peeps reccomend as a ok overclock?
Cheers

i dont think so but u need compatible motherboard that your graphics card can work in.

and u need rivatuner to overclock your graphics card i never heard how you can overclock your gpu without hardware

welcome to forums ;)

Thanks psychas. I already have RivaTuner but it says that the new drivers are not been tested so im just gonna wait. Im looking around to see how high people have overclocked thier GPU's and i'll know what my limit is.

Howdy, welcome to the forums.

Your mobo won't affect your graphics overclockability..

I recommend reading the faq, and changing your sig accordingly :)

welcome to the fourms :).

it shouldn't... With Rivatuner, AFAIK, it is all software-based, and not dependent on hardware... OCing your CPU on the other hand...

A real POS whose clock pulses are round might make it awkward, but anything, that's not some £19.99 tescovalue mobo will be fine. I've clocked cards silly on some pretty rough boards.

I can say for sure that the a8r-mvp board im using now overclocks my 3870 far better then my previous asrock939ds2 did. (Weak pci-e voltage i guess), but that said the asrock was a better for cpu clocking ;)

No, but of course the FSB has an effect on how well you can utilize that overclock :)
Also you need to have the PCI-E bus locked at all tmes if you're also overclocking your processor :)
