Is anybody running the latest version of Prime95 (25.5) with Vista and a Quad Core (I have the 6600)?

I am finding that it locks up when I run the Blend test.

Does anybody else experience this?

Yes. I find that adding another 2gb helps tho. I think its something to do with superfetch although I could also be way off the mark.

there's no inherent problem i'm aware of, if i lock up it's because my timings or overclock are bad.

vista 64 and q6600 @ 3.8ghz here.

Blend on Vista 64bit would always hard lock my pc even at stock clocks/timings.:(. 32bit Vista and 64bit xp were fine though so I doubt it was a dodgy overclock.

I had this problem my motherboard(gigabyte p35-ds4) had set the memory voltage to 1.8. I manually changed this to 2.1v in the bios and prime now runs perfectly with no errors at all.

Hope this helps.

strange one, never a problem here unless i'm short of volts or timings etc.

how long ago since you used Vista64 m8?

i really have no use for XP now apart from when i need to play with my Cisco labs <-no vista drivers for usb serial port adapter.

This is happening to me aswell, I have tried afew things, like switching graphics cards, setting the RAM voltage down to 1.8 and the timings and frequency as low as they would go, nothing works. I think it is a problem with Vista or the motherboards(mine is a GA-X38-DQ6), but I dont think its superfetch as it locks up still even when I disable it.

I am suspecting the reason my Civ4 game is locking up is the same reason Prime95 is locking up.
I updated to the latest MB BIOS which was released afew days ago and it made no difference.

But I have come a bit closer to figuring this out, I am currently running the blend test in Safe Mode, and its not causing any problems, infact it is running quiet smoothly. So now I gotta figure out which service or program is causing the instability.

vwgolfman, maybe we both have some installed which is causing this.

I have solved the problem.

In M.I.T change "Refresh To ACT Delay" to 42, mine defualted to 30, the lower the better I think, I heard a figure around 37 will do, but I have left it at 42 for now to be safe and will try lower it later on.
