as per title, is Steam Backup ment to backup game saves/progress too?

Gotta reinstall again and dont wanna loose my saves again

thanks,

Install Steam onto a seperate drive or partition that your OS, then you can just reinstall your OS without worrying about your game saves. you will have to reinstall Steam for the registry files to be imported, but if you install over the top then your game saves will stay there.

would copying the steam dir to another drive work?

will install steam to a spare drive this time, was actually hoping that this install would last - but this is the 2nd HHD thats gone south this month =(

I have a 500 gig which i use just solely for downloads etc and which also hosts my steam folder. When i re-install windows i just simply create a shortcut to my desktop.
It is by far the easiest method there is.

You can just go into the steam directory and take out all the save files you need and then back up all your steam games to CD/DVD using the steam backup, but i guess copying all the files to another hard drive is faster.

With steam you can copy all the files over, run the steam exe and it will work fine again.
