Does stuck pixel software really work?

Got a new LG-29UB65 yesterday and after the initial jubilation at such an awesome, awesome screen, I noticed a stuck red pixel. And of course now I know it's there it's annoying the hell out of me!

I'm running one of those bits of software that continually blats the area of the stuck pixel with random colours at the monitors refresh rate, but frankly, is this actually going to work?? I seem to remember on a previous screen I had that I ran some software like this and it did nothing.

Getting pretty deflated now as I've already RMA'd one screen (a completely different one) because it was just awful all round (in my opinion of course) and I'm guessing that nobodies going to be interested in doing anything about a single stuck pixel.

The glow in the bottom left and right is pretty bad and there's a bit of bleed in the top but I don't watch films on my PC so I'd be happy enough to live with that.

It can work, but sometimes it doesnt. If it is a new screen with a stuck pixel out of the box then I wouldnt hold out much hope. Ive had monitors develop a stuck pixel after 1-2 years use and the unsticker work, but the couple of people I know that had stuck pixels from new it didnt.

If it is still there after say 15 minutes, it is probably stuck for good.

Damn, that's not good news. I've been running it for way longer than 15 minutes and was going to leave it going all day!

TBH, I'm getting pretty hacked off with this kind of stuff now and I think in the new year when money permits I'm going to go back to an iMac. I stopped using them as they are essentially laptops but at least the screens are stunning and QC isn't a problem.

Just looked at a trailer on my MacBook Air and black is as black as can be, no glow, no fading, no stuck pixels!

Holy Crap! this thing is faulty! Just gone downstairs and noticed the one stuck pixel has now become a cluster of too many for me to be able to count!!

[EDIT] False alarm - now back to just one pixel. Given up on trying to fix it now. I think after 4 or 5 hours if it was going to 'unstick' then it would have done.
