Does such a thing exist - quiet mechanical keyboard?

Hi,

I'm currently looking into getting a replacement keyboard as the current one is driving me insane when typing due to the clicks it makes.

I suspect its just because I have a cheap one link below:

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/ocuk-cobra-advanced-gaming-box-set-red-kb-009-ok.html

Ideally I would like a replacement mechanical keyboard which was not as loud as the current one, any advise would be great.

Budget wise I'm looking at no more than £150, the mouse could do with being ditched also.

Thanks in advance.

Aaron

The keyboard you currently have isn't mechanical.

Mionix is fairly quiet for a mech straight out the box, if you want to make any Cherry switch quieter you can buy the O rings from OCUK and fit those.

If you aren't set on getting Cherry switches you could look at the Steelseries M800 Apex, I have this and it's very quiet for typing on.

Ah I feel so stupid now you have pointed out the keyboard I have is not Mechanical that certainly makes sense now hence the price paid.

The Mionix one mentioned a couple of times does look quite good, why do you suggest trying an MX Black out first as they are not for everyone?

Thanks Aaron

MX Blacks take a fair amount of force to activate relative to most other key types and lack the tactile bump of blues and brown that some people like (though most membrane also lack it also). I find it a very good key for FPS gaming but only so so for typing.

Ah thanks that helps a lot, I'm looking to be doing a lot more typing on the PC well Android development and games in between so it looks like I might have to spend a bit extra.

Thanks

Corsair strafe with silent mx switches are probably the quietest mechanical keys atm. The difference between this and my ducky brown switch keyboard is night and day. :)

P.s. Just remembered my Logitech g910 spark is very quiet too, but those are Romer G switches and the keycap shapes definitely aren't standard. Oddly though it doesn't detract from typing comfort or speed, at least for me.

I decided to take the plunge and orders the Corsa Gaming STRAFE RGB Cherry MX SILENT fingers crossed I like it :)

Thanks for the help everyone.

Pretty sure you'll love it, I love mine. Don't forget that corsair have downloadable strafe profiles should you want some. Also Corsair are about to announce some after market keycaps (pbt+Pom) should that float your boat :D

It has only just arrived, although I've not had chance to plug it into a PC yet it certainly is a lot more quiet than my existing keyboard and looks and feels fab.

I'll definitely be checking out the strafe profiles online :D :D

Thanks for the help

I'll be curious to see how you get on and how quiet it is. I'm thinking of switching to mechanical, but what's giving me pause is the extra noise. I currently have the logitech k750 solar (one of those flat island style keyboards). Very quiet, but gets really uncomfortable after a while.

I just bought the Strafe mechanical with silent keys, (not the RGB version), and I am super impressed. I had the Steelseries 6GV2 and the silent keys are sooooo much better.
I nearly bought the K95's on offer but the "strafe" word came out of my mouth, and I am very pleased, (and so is my wife who was going bonkers when I played games) ;).
