My dad has a 12 month old Discovery 4 3.0 litre twin-turbo diesel. Recently he's been getting blue smoke under hard acceleration out of the exhausts. Its really noticeable in the rear view mirror.

Is this a BMW engine? He's been told that it is but I wasn't sure. Just looking for some information regarding the problem but not having much luck with Land Rover. The cars been booked in but they say they've not had a problem like that before. It is intermittent when it happens so I'm not convinced they will find the problem.

Ok cheers guys, should have realised it was a V6 therefore not BMW.

So where does the Ford tie in come? I though Jaguar/land rover were Tata owned?

Will have a look to see if theres any jaguar problems that people are aware of. I'm not too worried but I like to have some knowledge of what it could be if they turn around and say that they can't find anything.

Can't find much about the problem, just have to wait and see what they say.

On another note dad's had to drive 45 minutes to Land Rover Stafford because the local garage he bought the car from cannot supply him with an automatic courtesy car yet again and have failed to do so the last 2 times its been in for a service and another problem.

Not really no. Just that they'd not had the problem before, there was a loss of power but as its mainly driven around town my dad didn't really notice it with it being the second turbo. Not something you'd want to pay for out of warranty though!
