Does the graphics card make any difference for video editing

Hi

I'm setting up my Dad's pc - going for quad core processor, lots of memory and a nice motherboard. Does the graphics card make any difference - he doesn't play any games so my thought is to just get him an entry level pci express card - but any views on this?

An entry level graphics card is a good place to start, it depends on the video editing software and weather it will make use of a better card.

I'm looking at a 4670 card (£54) with 1gb ddr memory which is where I am thinking it's going to make a difference. The software/hardware is pinnacle - not sure how much that uses the card

should be worried about HD or SSD this will be the biggest block . if you can afford a ssd for the OS and raid for the scratch and video files will give you the best performance

That would be over his budget which I am already over

I've posted my proposed spec here http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?p=15169373#post15169373 and am very open to where I should change it - that budget is absolutely maxed at £630 though

That should be fine, looking at the required spec for the software you could even go for the 4650 1gb (£40.99)
