does the i5 have any mojor performance increase to the i3 ?

i am in the process of buying an i3 and cant make my mind up wether to wait quite along time untill i have the money and get an i5

can anyone help?

The i5 750 is a true quad with loads of cache.

The rest are a bit girlie.

First build would be AMD AM3 based, more future compatibility.

well i have a p55 board which i bought for a lot less than new and it was 3 weeks old and everyone had said to me that intel is the way forward and overclocks a lot better.

The i5s are a great set of cpus, especially the quad core 750. If you already have a P55 board then the 750 is the one I suggest going for, all the other i5s and i3s are Dual cores with hyperthreading. Also, think about getting a decent cooler like this and try your had at overclocking it - it s very easy and the performance benefits are tangible.

If you are interested in a RAM suggestion, this is what i'd go for at the minute.

Depends on your budget.

This would be better of in general hardware forum where all the speccing for complete pc's goes down, start a new thread with what items(make and model) you already got and the budget.

well ive bought it now because of other interest but i may also do that to see what people think i may need to change or if its ok.
