Hi all,

Quick question please

Does the new PS3 (80Gb version) have a memory card reader?

Does it have 4 USB ports on the front?

...any other differences?

Thanks

It doesn't have a memory card reader, i'm pretty sure it has the 4 USB ports. Only other difference between the 80gb and the 40gb is you get a dual shock 3 pad with the 80gb.

I thought it was identical to the 40GB except for the larger HDD and DS3 i.e. still only 2 USB ports?

Its the same as the 40GB so thats no PS2 BC, 2 USB ports and no card readers. You can buy this http://www.gizmag.com/nyko-media-hu...missing-usb-ports-and-media-card-reader/9596/
that gives you a card slot and 4 USB ports, think i have seen it for around £10.
The only other thing is the new 80Gb uses less power than the 40Gbs, that it possibly has a 65 nM RSX as it uses about 10-20 watts less than the 40gb and quite a bit less than the old 60Gb.

I'm searching for one now, the Mrs gave me the money to buy one but they just don't seem to be getting any cheaper. If anything they are going up in price. I used to be able to find the 40gb's for £260 delivered and hoped they would be cheaper now the 80's are out. The 80's have just pushed the price back upto £280+ and the 40's sadly are not going cheaper to be cleared out :(

I'm not in a great hurry I fancy LBP and only want a blu ray player for when Band of Brothers comes out in November.

Removing the Memory Stick slot was a stupid thing to do, Sony! All the cameras use it, the new HD camcorders are using it, it would be nice to just take the card and shove it in to the PS3 to watch on a HDTV.

99% of cameras, have a usb cable that shows up as a mass storage device on the PS3 and can be browsed/viewed (same way as if you plugged in memory card).

Removing the card reader made a lot of sense to me, reducing the USB ports didn't.
