Does the Pal PS3 play all games full screen & full speed?

As above.

Considering getting one but from past experience I know that in the past NTSC consoles have been full screen and run 17.5% faster (60hz) than the PAL equivilent (Letterbox screen and @ 50hz)

Is this the same for the PS3? Being region free will the PAL PS3 run PAL and NTSC games @ 60hz full screen?

Yes, all UK games are all pal optimised. The NTSC games will run at 60hz only in NTSC mode at full screen and full speed.

doesnt like 720p mode avoid that though, so its not like they have 60hz games and w ehave 50 when used on HDTV?

Exactly, all ps3 games are 60Hz.

that issue you speak of is a problem from the past, not an issue with the hd consoles this gen.
