Does the PS3 upscale 720p games?

Got a 1080p TV on the way, are 720p games upscaled by the PS3 or is it the telly that does the work?

I "believe" it's left to the screen to do the upscaling, but I would be happy to be proven wrong.

looks fine ...depends on the game.
i played a demo of burnout which didnt look too good but other games such as ratchet & clank(or what ever its called) looked great.

They really should have the resolution option in the game itself. You have to keep going into system settings and unticking 1080p when you want to play a game and then ticking it again when you want to watch a Blu-ray. Major pain in the arse.

Most games are 720P, some of the better titles/exclusives also have a 1080P mode but it's rare at the moment.

I just leave 576, 720p and 1080p ticked and the games automatically switch to 720p and Blu-Rays stay at 1080p? Didn't think you needed to untick all the time.

It depends if a game has a 1080p mode. 1080p is all right for the PSN games but others like NBA Street Homecourt exhibit slowdown if played at 1080p. So you'd have to untick it for that game. Granted, it's not a major pain in the arse on reflection, as only a handful of non-PSN games have a 1080p mode.
