Does the RAM need to be matched?

Hi guys. I currently have two sticks of Corsair CM2X1024-6400PRO RAM. I'd like to up my total memory but I only have one spare memory slot. Is my only option to fit another stick of exactly the same memory, to give me a total of 3 Gig, or can I install a 2Mb module alongside the two 1Gig modules?

often it'd work, but sometimes people have problems with running different brands.

and be sure to check they have the same voltage requirements.

I will get a pair of the same. I'm overclocking my system so I don't want to lower the RAM speed at all.

yes just stick some more of the same in then.

make sure it is the same revision though. and some motherobards are known to have dodgy memory controllers when running 4 dimms, which means that if you don't actually need 4GB it will slow your system down.

I didn't know that. I'll Google to see if there is any issue with mine.
