Hi all,

I recently changed to an X2 4200+ and kept my PC3200 Crucial 3-3-3-8 2Gb kit

Now if I were to change to a 2Gb PC4000 kit would I see any change at all in my setup? Does it automatically clock the ram to ddr500 and lower the multi on the chip or?

I know I have a good X2 stepping but the HT maxes out at 220Mhz on this mobo so do I really need to change mem or would it be a waste to increase my e-willy :p

NO!

The performance increase will be so little you won't notice it. The mobo doesn't clock your ram to DDR500 automatically you will need to manually set it in BIOS - higher rated RAM is only needed if you intend to so some serious overclocking.

HT maxes out at 220? what mobo do you have? did you reduce the HTT multiplier to 4 (800Mhz)?

Cheers for the reply :)

I have a SSF that doesn't want to go any higher, see this thread here if you fancy a chance at changing that :D

My bios etc is shown there but it didn't seem to like me changing the 5x to 4x it just halted at post and went to safe mode.
