does the shroud of the 1st gen wrath cooler do more than aesthetics?

basically it was loose when i first got the hardware as it was used and because it was interfering with my ram at the time i turned it thinking it was adjustable ha and broke the glue, i just leave it resting which moves if i move the case.

so my question is to basically see if i should try stick it back or take it off if its just for style?

It may help with pushing air down through the fins, but i don't think it would make too much difference if the shroud was not there.

isnt that the 2ng gen? but thanks for reply. mine is the round one.

i did take it off at one stage as well as one time it being held at an angle and didnt notice anything, but im looking to see my main part thats why i questioned it as for me it doesnt matter.

No that is the Fist-Gen Wraith cooler, it comes with this
See the faint picture of it on the side of the box.

What you have is the Second-Gen Wraith Stealth, the box cooler for your Ryzen 1200? tho i don't use it i have the sort of thing, tho mines twice as tall, its the Wraith Spire.

You should be fine. :)

If there's a gap between the fan and the fins of the heat sink then your losing air out of the side. The shroud is to help channel the air flow. Probably won't make a massive difference but if you have poor air flow in your case as well it's not going to work as well.

Only really make a difference off your overclocking or like quiet fans
