They were probably referring to the NUS Extra card which gives more benefits, you can get this free though with Lloyds TSB.

You can do it yourself I presume. Or you could send the photo to the person in question I'd hazard a guess.

Pfft..I remember when they're free and you got all the discounts anyway. Now you have to pay for card to as well as a membership fee for the union?

Nah the basic one is free and also serves as your student ID

This is true for Cardiff university at least

The picture is printed onto the card you can't do it without specialised (and expensive) card making equipment.

The standard card was completey free, it's the "Extra" one that costs, but you can get it free with a Lloyds TSB student account.

it only has to look real, it doesnt have to be perfect.
They have only just started to print directly onto the card have they not?
As Iv got my green one from 2 academic years back which is still picture stuck on

Yea, most places just want to see roughly a picture of yourself and the card. Most bouncers/shop keepers are like that.
