as per title, is the x-fi breakout box a pre amp? and if so, can i connect a record player to it?
does the x-fi pro have a pre-amp?

If you mean a phono pre-amplifier/stage, no it doesn't like it does. Do you need moving magnet or moving coil phono pre-amplifier/stage?
You can just buy a external Hi-Fi phono stage...around £50-£60 for a good 'un.

hmm, it has a ground wire port and two x phono input on the back, and a swtitch to select aux/phono so i would presume its a pre amp?

It's supposed to have a RIAA phono MMagnet pre-amp but it didn't work that well for me. Creative's "tech support" didn't know that much either and not ONE review tried it other than reguritating Creative's blurp. Returned my "Elite" Pro.
ah well, i'll give it a try tomorrow!
