Does the XBox automatically run games from harddrive?

If you install a game to your hard drive... When you next insert the CD, or choose to play it, does it always then run it from hard drive? ie: You don't have to do something special?

As far as I'm aware, yes. You should be able to tell as the DVD will spin up and then stop once the game has booted.

In theory yes, but I've noticed on games like FIFA and skyrim the disk spinning and reading for a while before stopping and streaming from hdd

It spins at the start as a kind of security check to confirm you actually own the game. After that the disc will stop and it'll load from the HDD.

The time it takes to stop spinning did increase when they gained extra dvd space on the game disks with streamlined copy protection
