Does thermal grease go off?

I have found a tube of approx 3 year old (I think) Arctic Silver, will this still be good?

it will have some liquid on the top, get that out first and it will be fine

I have some 4 year old AS5 which I used the other day on my bros laptop, knocked the idle temps down by 5-6c so I presume its still working fine Apparently your meant to keep it in a certain position (nose facing down I think), mine however was slung in a cupboard at different angles every so often!
