On a serious note, I would phone the police for sure.

Get plenty of pictures of the Saxo as well. I'm sure Barryboys would be interested if the police aren't, particularly if the gear box has been 'modified' as above.

This will probably be the kind of thing that happens, theyll probably send these guys to see you anyway rather than a patrol car.

If you ring the police about anything at all and mention it could be those nice travelling folk they simply don't want to know.
They all have multiple identities and no fixed address actually prosecuting them is very difficult.

Let the two inside tyres down flat so the car cant be driven away, that way they know youre onto them

that is genuinley what id do, but wear disposable gloves, atleast be smarter than them

It might be a get away car, wont be going no where with flat tyres.

I didn't today if it makes you feel any better as I've got a couple of weeks off.

If it weren't for the fact they had left some Saxo shaped evidence behind then I'd have been more concerned and less puzzled.

Northern Ireland Ireland here, so we're plagued by them. North and South of the border. They robbed my old bosses work place. It was a concrete factory. They came in a lorry one day to pick up some paving slabs for a job they were doing. And to scope the place out. Paid for what they bought on the day and left. About a week later the place was robbed. They broke into the moulding / casts shed and used one of the forklifts to remove a large steel container filled with concrete that would be set behind the gates to stop vehicles ramming through the gates. Then filled their truck and were off. Several thousand quids worth of product gone in about 30 minutes. The boss then spent another week camping out at the factory every night with his shotgun in case they came back.
