I am currently looking at a total rebuild of my gaming rig. The only things I propose to keep apart from my excellent peripherals (I have Logitech keyboard, mouse and USB speakers as well as a Samsung monitor), are my whopping great Zalman 1000 watt PSU and my DVD drive. I would just take what I need off my current HDD, the usual personal stuff.

The new components I am looking at are;-

Asus Crosshair IV Formula AMD 890FX (Socket AM3) DDR3 Motherboard
AMD Phenom II X6 Six Core 1055T 2.80GHz (Socket AM3)
Western Digital Caviar Green 2TB SATA-II 64MB Cache
Patriot Viper 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 12800C8 1600MHz Low Latency Triple Channel
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium - Fatal1ty Professional Series 7.1 Sound Card
HIS ATI Radeon HD 5850 iCooler V Turbo 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Corsair Obsidian 800D Full Tower Case - Black
Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit

Obviously I am looking for some DX11 gaming gorgeousness, reckon these components are going to be nice to each other?

the triple channel memory kit is for i7 systems you want a dual channel kit either 4 or 8gb.

is the green harddrive just for storage? if so its fine, if its actually going to be your main drive for windows and games to run from then it sucks cause its slow.

Yup, other than that triple channel (you need duel) it sounds like a really awesome build :D
I like that case choice too.

Wow thanks for quick reply all!

The hard drive would be my main one for gaming and Windows. I was thinking Samsung Spinpoint F3 at one point but I read that they sometimes don't play nice. What would be your recommendations for a BIG and fast HDD?
