A 15 year old boy gets beaten up but the CPS decided the criteria warrants a final warning for the offender.

A senior crown prosecutor has reviewed all the facts in this case, including the aggravating and mitigating factors.

‘The circumstances behind this assault fit the national criteria for a final warning, which has now been formally administered by a police officer.

‘Reprimands and warnings are often used as a method of addressing the behaviour of young people with the intervention of the local youth offending team.

‘The views of the victim and his family have been taken into account in reaching this decision.'

I find this amazing to be honest, there is such inconsistency within the judiciary.

Well something doesn't add up. Mitigating and aggravating evidence yet DM says totally unprovoked attack. That doesn't really tally up.

Maybe because ending the other kid to a YOI would do more harm than good, a final warning is actually quite serious for a young offender and he might actually get some help, which he won't get in custody.

Another narrow minded daily fail article

It's pretty consistent actually, everyone gets away with the most lax of punishments, unless some kind of moral crime occurs in which case people are excessively punished.

Amazing how the CPS have the arrogance to think they speak for the public in these matters.

What a load of wishy washy liberal bull ****. What if the guys next victim doesn't get off so lucky? What if he kills the next one?

Scum like that should have the book thrown at them so hard it leaves the title branded on their foreheads. Society won't improve until criminals fear the repercussions of their actions.

Seems legit.

Lots of blood, but little actual injuries. Hardly worth going to a young offenders institute for.

Or he'll continue to learn as he's probably learned all his life that there are no consequences to this kind of behaviour, he will carry on and in the end it will ruin his life completely and lives of god knows how many others when he goes completely off the rails. People like this laugh at the so called help that is offered, but keep dreaming about this wonderful humanity where everyone gets fixed by holding kittens.

Some people are tough, they can take a beating and carry on, but I've seen the life-altering effect that an assault like this can have on someone.

Are you trying to imply theres an acceptable level of physical assault? That if you dont beat someone up too badly, you should get away with it?

Lets not forget that its not just the physical scars that count. That poor kid could spend years or even decades too afraid to step outside for fear of it happening again. Brutal assaults life this can destroy lives.

What a load of right-wing ignorant nonsense backed up by zero evidence
Study after study and statistics clearly show that strict and harsh punishments serve as little if any deterrent at all.
However early intervention combined with education and rehabilitation has a far greater impact on re-offending rates, but hey don't let the FACTS get in the way of another Daily FAIL rant

I don't care if harsh or strict punishments have very little deterrent the fact is if they are locked up they are no longer a threat to law abiding citizens.

I can personally tell you that the probation system is a joke.

Really
Well I can personally tell you that I have played a mayor role in steering quite a few petty youth criminals to become benificial members of society in the 7 years I worked with them as a youth worker in Brentwood!

We didn't beat or punish them into being good  , we engaged with them developed their interests and ran projects that educated them!
The new skills and qualifications they learnt then helped them find employment and keep them on the straight and narrow!

Amazing. Beat someone up and make them bleed and you get off scot free. Make a sick joke about something on twitter and you're hauled before the courts.

It must be nice to kid yourself that you make a difference when in reality, probation appointments consist of having a cup of tea and a chat.

I'm going to add something to this for a little balance. Probation may be useful for people who have committed misdemeanors and need to talk things through, but the help the state offers to people who need rehabilitation is a joke. I'm adding this because I actually liked my probation officer, but he could not provide the help I needed, it was more like a social.

Tuesday pop in and see the probation officer, Wednesday after go to the laughable anger management etc
