Does this Ethernet look damaged?

Hi guys,

What do you think? I clipped it when drilling, cut off the plasterboard to see the damage but I can’t see any bare wires - only this string like bit. I opened up the plastic a bit more to check inside for damage.

What do you think? I have the gear to put a connection box in after cutting the wire clean but would rather just patch up the outside plastic if that’s all I’ve cut.

RIP to the telephone wire but don’t use that anyway!

Funny story, I cut the plasterboard to expose the wires and check for damage (then took that photo). Ordered an ethernet tester to be sure. Went out for lunch, come back and plastered up the hole (took me two hours as it was my first time). Sat down, smug with my work, only to realise I haven't tested the wire yet...

Any Ethernet tester that's affordable will only test continuity.

If you want to test the cable connect something to it and check that it supports Gigabit.

In what way would I check that?
