Hi,

I have my PC and one for the kids in our office under the desk in cupboards (vented of course).

We're all fed up with getting under the desks to turn on, get to a usb port, speaker/headphone port, access to dvd etc etc. Is there any kind of kit that has all these kind of ports and switches that could sit on top of the desk?

Funny you should mention this, I have a mate who had an idea to make a product to fulfil your needs. A remote box which sits under your monitor, with a power/reset switch and a powered USB pub and 3.5mm pass though ports.
He was planning to use the arcade button switches to make a sample/test unit etc.

However he never bothered in the end.

Sounds like a pretty good idea if it doesn't exist already, kind of like those touchscreen external fan controller boxes that you can have on your desk.

Sounds like a diy project; get an external USB dvd unit, add on power switch - run it back to switch on case, for headphones & microphone run extension cable along the usb line, etc....

You can get cheap gaming keyboard which have USB pass through and 3.5mm audio ports already, just got to find one at the price you want.

You should be able to setup your PC to wake on key press. That would avoid any potential DIY for building a power switch unit.

Thanks for the replies. It sounds like a DIY job indeed, but there is some useful advice I can go with, thanks.
