I will be mounting an h100i at the front of my 350D meaning I lose the HD cages totally. Is there such a thing (as I'm not good enough to fabricate) that would allow me to store a couple of 2.5" drives and maybe a slim optical in the two 5.25" optical bay slots?

Oh that's great Jony! Baboonanza, it would mean that unless someone did somethign with a grill on the bottom of it but tbh I was thinking of just getting a USB optical anyway so that thing Jony linked would probably do me fine.

I have been reading and it seems the best compromise for temps/noise is a push pull config with the SP 120 Quiet Editions, from what I have read there isn't room to mount this way on the top.
I had mounted my last one as you said with little issue but for this case I don't have as many fans and it makes sense to me to have the h100i mounted low intaking air and the top of the case pushing out hot air along with the rear exhaust.

It's a tough one because from a basic science pov, it makes no sense pushing warm air through my radiator as that won't benefit my CPU temps much and I intend to OC my 4790k. That said, it seemed ok in my 550d case.
Another option is to mount the fans as you say, below the h100i pushing out the top, and have two intakes at the front and use the rear as an intake. The whole temp thing bugs me because I really don't know if any significant gains can be made and I just over think it.
Obviously not having to spend £50 on fans for push pull is great

This is from Kitguru.net

When two fans were used it was in a push config. Obviously there are other variables such as room ambient temps etc

It really doesn't make sense financially you are right. I can just lower my OC anyway because I do not need it. TBH I could quite happily run stock I think so probably answered my own question :)

I am aware yes which is why I've gone full circle now and will push out the top and use front and rear as intake so I still have a slightly positive pressure. 450 is too big a case unfortunately.

Lovely, I'm considering getting braided cables for the first time ever too. So your fans were setup like I just said bar having the rear as an exhaust? It's a 120m on the back right?

Yeah 2 AF120 Quiets on the front, 1 at the back, then 2 SP120 quiets on the radiator, just had them all hooked up to the H100i to control the speeds etc.

Since changed to the 540 though as I got another 670

Cool, I've been on overclockers.net owners thread and see a lot put 2x AF 140mm at the front which is what I'm doing.
The h100i takes 4 fans doesn't it? So did you have the front two connected in and leave rear as is?
Did you have to get 4/3 pin extenders as well?

Yes Joe that was but I've since been convinced to change my design. That is however still very useful and I like the idea of hiding the drives in there. What is it called?

To be honest Jimlad the more I look at the 450d the more I'm thinking it makes sense. It will futureproof me in case I ever go SLI and has much better cooling options but isn't quite as big as the 550D I had.
