chris_uk333 try buy a small pair of tweezers (women's eyebrow pluckers with a fine end work great ) and bend the pins back up gently, bent pins don't kill boards, if the pins had fallen out or snapped that would be a different matter. Once you have them up again and looking like the rest of the pins place the cpu in and don't stick the latch on at this stage just use your fingers and place even gentle pressure on the cpu for a few secs, then take the cpu back out again and check the pins if they still look okay and didn't bend and popped back up, stick the cpu back in and use the cpu latch to hold it in place and just hold the heatsink on with your hands while testing if the board will power up with the cpu in it, if it powers up and you get a video signal all is okay and then mount the heatsink fully and install the system.
Remember when testing to have memory and GPU installed so you don't get any error beeps or lights.
Also the pictures do clearly show bent pins across the top on both sides to me not just the left side. Looks like you slipped while removing the plastic socket cover and took out a single line of pins but again the board may have come like that.
