Does this look like a card failure or driver related

This is my less than a week old 8800gts driver is 169.21

Just fully locks up and have to hard reboot, never hard a card look like this 3rd time its done it everything is totally stock

I have a 7800 i can lend I might give that a try

Should try it if yo can get it, that really looks like a borked core or memory. Never seen drivers cause that kind of artifacting.

Just uninstall the drivers, and see if the standard vga drivers is any diff??

Screams dodgey ram to me, used to happen with the old 9800xt's

This happened to a friends X800pro after it had been run a couple of times without proper cooling as the fan had packed in. It was doing this even during post so drivers wouldn't be the cause as they wouldn't be loaded during early posting stage.
