Or will I be better off with a different mobo?

Not sure about Mobo butif you plan to overclock at all get a E4300 or a E6600 depending on your budget.

The motherboard is based on the 975 chipset so is fully featured but tends not to reach such high FSB speeds as other motherboards which makes it a bad choice for anything below the 6600 (the cheapest chip in the range to have 4mb L2 cache).

Maybe have a look at the Asus P5N-E 650 SLi as it is solid, fairly cheap and overclocks well, oh and maybe an aftermarket cooler such as the Tuniq Tower or Scythe Ninja with the money saved. :)

I wont be overclocking it at all - So would the mobo I've chosen be ok in that respect?

Cooling wise - I was swaying toward the Arctic Freezer 7?

Freezer will be fine if youre not overclocking and probably even if you are.

Id recommend getting a Gigabyte DS3 and using the difference to get a E6600 chip.

if you are not overclocking just get the retail cooler - it will suffice entirely.

I second the suggestion of the Gigabyte DS3... consider the DS4(?) if SLI might occur in your future.

Is the retail cooler not loud though?

SLI wont be happening - not a gamer at all.

How is the DS3 spec wise - I looked at the Asus due to it having more or less everything.

The Asus has the kitchen sink and some further overclocking functionality that the DS3 lacks. Ask yourself if the Asus extras are required.

Nope, but then I've always gone for the Deluxe/Ultra etx versions of boards. :p

Is there much difference between the one I've specced above and the 965 P5B Deluxe?
