Hi, this is my first attempt at putting together a system, could you let me know if I've made any stupid choices or forgotten anything? thanks.

I'm mostly interested in the bundle to get it ready overclocked, not really confident enough to do that myself.
no idea about the psu either. Other than the basic wattage, what's the difference?

I already have a spare ssd though so that's ok. The system will be used for a bit of everything; gaming, 3d animation/rendering, video editing, and whatever else comes up. Trying to keep it under £1000

thanks a lot guys, that is really helpful :)

one more question though, would a liquid cooler be quieter than an air cooler?

also any other suggestions for making it run quieter? I render overnight a lot and when I'm trying to sleep it gets annoying.

thank you all for your suggestions, I decided to go for the bundle in the end, reading about installing the cooler got me a bit scared :S
I could probably manage it but I think I'd rather pay a little extra and avoid the risk tbh.
I'll stick to 8gb ram for now I think, it's easy enough to put more in later.
added a couple of things as well, I only use dvds and memory cards once in a blue moon, but it's always a hassle finding an external reader when I do need one so it's probably worth the cost.
Just to check, there will be room for all this + an ssd and 2nd hdd right?

I think I'll be ordering this today unless anyone has any better ideas.

oops... thanks for spotting that

just when I'd finally made my mind up... :/
will the newer motherboards be more expensive do you think? i'd be happy to wait a few weeks to get better performance for the same price.
or maybe will the haswell processors be cheaper after the new version comes out?

ok so I decided to wait for the new cpus to come out, here is my final spec:

I originally wanted to keep it under £1000, so any suggestions to reduce the price a little without hurting performance would be welcome. or actually, any suggestions to improve performance significantly with adding much to the cost would be good too...
