Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

Does this mean that I have to act quick?

Just read this on Anandtech:

"The scary statistic is that by the end of this year, only 25% of Intel's Performance Mainstream desktop processor shipments will be based on Conroe. The remaining 75% will still be NetBurst based, meaning they will be Pentium 4, Pentium D and Pentium Extreme Edition."

I really don't know what to do, pre-order now or face months of waiting, I'm sure when Conroe is launched they will be flying off the shelf like mad. Can this be another trick of Intel's marketing people?

Put it this way - OcUK wouldn't have them on pre-order at such a reasonable price if there is going to be a shortage of supply!!

Prices are largely determined by supply and demand - and everyone knows that the demand is high. If the supply isn't going to be good then OcUK will have shot themselves in the foot by selling so many Conroes on pre-order at what looks to be very reasonable prices!!

If there was a real shortage in supply then places like OcUK could have waited until release and then use the high demand to bleed the maximum price for the product. This doesn't seem to be the case, so I'd say that it is a good sign that supply from Intel should be good too ;)
