So many monitors I’m getting a bit confused. Does a good monitor with these specs exist for under a grand?

34” curved UW
IPS
3440X1440
At least 120Hz
G-Sync

Thanks :)

It’s nice, but I’m too worried about switching to VA. Just don’t think it’s as good or vibrant as IPS.

I wont lie, I struggle to see the difference between IPS and VA. Ive had ips/va and quality seems to vary so much its difficult to work out sometimes which is which :) Have been very impressed with this though.

Thanks, mill have a think about. If I do go VA then I have lots of options.

Don't be too quick to discount VA @robfosters , I've had both the LG 34GK950F (IPS, curved) and the Iiyama GB3466somethingsomethingdarkside VA and the Iiyama was a beaut! Really liked the contrast and deep curve on it, and it was responsive and not ghostly at all imo :)

If you def want IPS then go balls out for a 38", damn good screens

Once your used to black you don't go back :p, get a VA (I grew up with CRT/Plasma so IPS/TN's grey blacks and low contrast ratio do not do it for me).

Assuming for gaming/movies not content creation.

The LG 34GK950F or the Iiyama GB3466somethingsomethingdarkside I'd probably take the GB tbh, and that's with using both.

It's a budget UW though so adjust your expectations accordingly imo.

The Alienware AW3420DW can be had for £950. Personally I'd stump up the extra few hundred for the 38" bigger brother.

I went from a 29" curved IPS to a 34" curved VA.

I'd say it's 90% as good for a lot less money.

Yes, IPS is better and yes, I can tell the difference, but I really don't think it's worth the extra (for me - games / internet - i.e. no colour-critical work).

The issue you have with the latest models, that are most likely to be 120Hz or more, is that they are now using the 38" screens not the 34". I mean I spent much time looking for the same specs as you are looking for and in the end decided to go for the Alienware AW3821DW. I paid £1300 for mine but others seemed to manage to get sizeable discounts. But in short answer to your question, no, if you want 120Hz then it's going to cost you, and 38" is the current thing to go for.

My Acer x34 is all those things except 100Hz instead of 120Hz. It was 1k a few years ago and im pretty sure a newer model exists thats 120Hz. Yup, £899...
