does this problem sound psu related?

My PC just wont boot, every now and then after ages of trying I may get lucky and the pc will boot up and it is absolutly fine.

When I press the power button the pc will switch on but ust wont post. Everything is back at stock.

Does it sound as if my Hiper PSU isn't giving enough stable power for it to boot?

Thanks

I assume you have tried clearing the BIOS? Need full system specs. Have you tried the time honoured tradition of stripping it down to just MB, single memory chip and CPU?

Thanks for feedback so far.

Acctually on the pc now. Looks like a motherboard fault. Wiggled the memory in the slot and its booted up every time since.

Looks like a new motherboard is needed!!

If the above is the problem, you could just move your memory to the other slots. (This is obviously dependent on the MB and how many slots are filled - and that the other slots are not affected too.)

If the MB is not under guarantee then the above 'could' tied you over until you get a new MB.

well the other 2 slots are broke :P

currently running in single channel already, thoguht that would tie me over, looks like its slowly dieing!!

*edit - saying that though it was only since I installed the new ram in January time the other 2 slots broke, and also problems with booting - could there me a chance that the memory modules are too thin??!!

What is the make and model of the MB and memory?

There's a possibilty that the new modules are slighlty thinner, resulting in a poor connection - but it could equally be that your DIMM slots have become wide/loose making connection very inconsistent.

Have you tried testing any other memory in the slots?

memory is ddr2 corsair xms - 2x2gb
mobo is a gigabyte ds3 something or other - rev 1.0. Was one of the 1st out when the 6300 was released.

Either run CPU-z or run 'dxdiag' in the run command (or search programmes/files vista win 7) and look at the ‘system model’ heading for the full gigabyte model - but it sounds like a p43 chip set.

Unfortunately, the above doesn’t get us any closer to solving your problem - indeed, even if it can be, as it sounds like your DIMM slots may be at fault.

The best test you could try is putting a different set of memory in the machine to see if it replicates the same problem.
