Does this really make your ping better?

Reading it I can see where they are coming from but not sure if it would work. Has any one had experience using something like this? Does it work? I know it says it's for WoW but a fair few people (that I don't know too well) have said it works in all games...

Just wondering if it's worth trying?

That was in the news couple of years ago. Not the mod but the fix itself and it DOES work. Actually it works extremely well. My average pings in WoW went from 150-250 (depending on server load) to 50-120 and you can really feel the change while playing, too. Blizzard has made some changes in the past two years to fix latency problems with casting/using skills so it might not be a revolutionary fix anymore but I bet it still does work.

Never noticed any problems with the fix either.

I tried it on AION and it worked for me, forgot about it on this install.

Give it a try, go to speedtest.net and take your ping 3 times and average it out, install that mod and then do the same, see if it reduces your ping at all.

I think mine went from 9 down to 7 on Speedtest, not much of a difference but still it's something.

I remember fiddling with these setting back in my cs1.6 days. It didn't work for me because but it may have been down to the wireless network I was on. Which was also the reason I was fiddling with those settings in the first place.

This is because CS1.6 is based on the Quake engine, which uses the UDP protocol (as do the vast majority of FPS games), not TCP.
