I already have a gtx460 gpu
Hard drive
DVD R/W

On a budget 0f £500 I intend to add

Sandy bridge 2500K
Akasa AK-CCX-4002HP Venom CPU Cooler
Asus P8P67 pro motherboard
GeIL 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz VALUE PLUS Dual Channel
BeQuiet L7 530w psu
Coolermaster Elite 330 Midi Tower Case

Does that look ok? Any improvements without going too far over budget?

Thanks.

Looks good, CPU cooler is excellent, as is the ram.

You could save some money by getting this bundle, a good case and a good PSU for £63

Will be a massive upgrade from your current system

That's a nice idea Cookeh. Thanks.

I have been advised in a previous thread to ensure I get a decent psu in order to protect components in event of psu failure. You say it's a good psu. That'll do for me. Do you know if the bundled psu is fairly quiet?

Thanks again.

I believe its around standard.

So, its neither noisey or the most quiet. Perhaps a few dBa noisier than the BeQuiet PSU.

I have the same case and PSU bundle and i can confirm it's nice and quiet. Almost silent :)

Are you sure its a good PSU?

That range seems to be around 70% efficient and certainly not 80+ certified.

Considering what you will be running, I would suggest going for this PSU.

Thank you for the replies. It is appreciated.

I'm sorry to be a nuisance, folks, but as I mentioned earlier, I have been advised to make sure I get a psu which has overvoltage/current protection.

The bundled psu & cabinet is a very tempting price. The bundled psu doesn't specify if it has safety features. If it does, I'm going for the bundle. Can anyone say if it has these features, please? I certainly hope it has. It would be a bargain with that case as well. After seeing that case, I now fancy the idea of a windowed case. So, whatever the psu is, I'll certainly be getting the Elite 430 case with or without psu.

I'd originally opted for the Bequiet for its price, power & (hopefully) low noise levels. I checked specs. It has overvoltage & current protection.

The Antec specs look good. All the protection features that I think would be useful.

Edit: I should have also said earlier, I intend to overclock the 2500K. Will a 530w psu be sufficient?

Thank you for your help.

I -think- it is.

Be surprised if it wasn't.

500W and 530W will both be more than adequate for overclocking :)

I've done a bit more googling. The psu does have protection features. Reviews of similar (if not identical) psu/case deals say this psu is very quiet. It seems to be a decent psu for a good price without sacrificing quality or reliability.

Thanks Cookeh. I'm having that case and psu. You saved me a few quid there.
