Does this sort of USB-Ethernet adapter exist?

I'm after a USB - Ethernet adapter but housed in a keystone patch panel mount. So it's the USB lead that is run from the patch panel down to the rack mounted PC.

I need an additional network port on a PC and would rather not have a conventional dongle sticking out of the back and fitting an internal card isn't really an option.

Does such a thing exist??

doubt it. you could do this though..

usb to ethernet adapter, then a patch cable to a cat5e pass through Keystone jack.

Better to have long ethernet than long usb.

Yeah, that's true.

That was the only other thing I could think of but I was just seeing if I could avoid having something dangling out of the back of the PC if at all possible - but I suppose it doesn't make all that much difference really if it's quite a small adapter.

You can get USB keystones and Cat6 keystones, surely with one of those you can do exactly what you want? I get that you don't want a dongle hanging out the back of the PC but it has to get connected somehow.

What connector do you want exposed on the keystone? A network socket or a USB B socket?
