Recently my pc has started to hard shut down, and I have to disconnect PSU from mains or switch it off via toggle switch on PSU to be able to turn it back on. Happens only when I'm in game, sometimes after 5mins, sometimes after an hour (Destiny 2, FFXIV, Warzone etc) Temps all look fine and well within safety when it happens.

I have been able to get it running more stable by power limiting my GPU, but it eventually happens still, this just seems to allow it to run for longer.

Have updated all drivers, clean install of nvidia drivers, updated MB bios to F61, swapped out RAM, tried 1 stick of RAM, reinstall windows. At a bit of a loss but think next step is to try new PSU?

Specs
Corsair AX850 PSU
RTX 3080 FE (running stock)
Ryzen 5 5600x (no OC)
Motherboard is X470 Aorus Ultra Gaming
16GB 3000mhz DDR4 (C15)

It would be the most logical step. You have a top tier PSU which is not that old, but I've had 2 Corsair HX PSU's fail on me & my experience with Corsair PSU's has made me conclude that your PSU could be the culprit.

Needing to power cycle PSU itself by either disconnecting from wall or by switch hints toward some PSU protection getting triggered.
Those should be always "latching" type with error state staying until PSU loses its power.

As other thing it shouldn't affect to that, but are you using separate cable for graphics card's every power connector?

Yeah Ive seperate 8pins running to each of the connections on the nvidia 12pin connector.

You get 10 year warranty with any of these so buy with confidence.

BTW have you thought about contacting Corsair & see what they say as regards the AX850 developing a fault & returning it under RMA?
