• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

Does this sound right (xfx rma)

They can't offer you less than the value it would cost to get a similar replacement 2nd hand and 285s hold a LOT of their value.

I would contact trading standards just to clarify where you stand.

But they must also run into the requirement that items last for a reasonable length of time and its not even had half its warrenty yet!

When my 4770 broke I at least got a 9800GTX+ 1GB as a replacement.

Haha, cheers buddy. I'll be avoiding them in future.

It's worth doing some research into whether they're allowed to do that. It may be that the law is against you, but some manufacturers replace out of good will?
Yep, bfg's rma service is outstanding, as for logitech, i have nothing but praise for them, i recently got a new G500 mouse as my G5 was faulty, i didnt even have my receipt, all they asked for was the part and serial no's, didnt even have to destroy the G5 and provide evidence of this.

I have never had any bother with their RMA re call them you might have spoke to a tool, esc if needed and be polite. If all fails small claims is peanuts, i have used it twice to get my money back from etailors who think there above all!

Been on the phone twice mate, very politely on both occasions, same customer service woman, she was saying that they have no alternatives in stock.

I bet XFX will send you something better..
Well ill hopefully hear from them later today or possibly tomorrow, im a bit out of pocket on this as well, only other card i had to hand was a 7300gt, (no gaming on that) so i picked up an 8800gt on mm to tide me over.

EDIT: Thanks Mr Paul, ill give that a shot.

What aload of crap, a quick browse through there stock shows plenty of xfx gtx285 and gtx275 in stock.

He didnt buy it from OcUK, and didnt mention where he did, so looking at OcUK's stocklist is pointless.

If the retailer doesnt offer you a proper refund or replacement just set trading standards and the small claims court on them. You simply cant buy a card as fast as yours for the money they are offering, the GTX275 is a slight downgrade and the GTX285 is a slight upgrade.

Unfortunatly XFX RMA isnt very good either, which is why OcUK handle the XFX warrenty/RMA if you bought from here... But I doubt they will be willing to help out as it was bought elsewhere.

It's SCANdalous indeed. Had the same crap happen to me, £340 4870x2 less than a year old refunded only £140. Although it's the AIB that decides the replacement/refund details, NOT the etailer. Or so they would have me believe.

To those screaming small claims court etc, I doubt that's going to help as these massive companies always cover their arses so you'll likely be wasting your own time and money (far more than the discrepancy in the refund).

edit: Gibbo does not work for Scam, can't say where he works because of rules

£140.00, crickey i bet that was a shock, just noticed that Gibbo no longer works there as well, got a reply n the forum, guy says that £123.00 sounds right, ive asked if they can suppy me with an alternative card, ie an ati.

Yep, they have gtx 260's, 275's and a few 285's. They dont seem interested in the idea of a replacement card, pushing the refund seems to be their highest priority. They even have gtx260's at almost the same price as the refund theyve offered, give or take a few quid.

Utter tosh this is the exact reason why these big companies are still here they hope there are more people like yourself to bend over and take it. I got a result both times when i used small claims and it has nothing to with being a scammer or a moaner we pay over the odds in the uk as it let alone to be screwed over at warrenty time when you have done nothing wrong. I work hard pay my bills im be dammed if im getting done over just beacuse they have more money then me.

rant over :p;)
