where would you get 3gb from? most kits are 2gb, and 1gb kits are 512mbx2.

I got sick of umming and ahhing and the end and bit the bullet. Went for this in the end...

Was thinking of 2x1gb plus 2x512mb, wasn't sure if that would run as dual channel though. Other option would be 4x1gb, which I know would run dual channel under vista but I wasn't sure if it would run as dual channel under XP as it would only see 3gb of it...
Doesn't matter though, to be honest, I'm upgrading from AMD 2800+ with 1gb ram so whatever I do it will be a vast improvement. In another year or 2 I guess I can switch to vista 64, put 2gig extra ram in and a quad core processor so I have a reasonable upgrade path I think.
