my 8700k is currenlty running on 5ghz all cores, with 16gb 3000mhz, will swapping the ram for 32gb 3000 (which i have in another pc) mess up the overclock?

It can do yes you mite have to tinker but you could be fine.

Write down all your settings or take pic of the bios before in case you have to clear the cmos.

If your 8700K is rock stable then at those RAM speeds I very much doubt it will have any effect on your CPU overclock. I presume you're running at XMP?

I have never had any issue going from 2 to 4 sticks and iirc the topology of Z370/Z390 means the board prefers 4 sticks to 2.

So i took the pics just incase, swapped the ram checked the bios and overclock all ok. and XMP was on auto so its just set the same 3000mhz for the other ram, they where both Teamgroup, but the 16gb is dark pro, so might be better... the other 32gb kit is the standard Teamgroup stuff with gunmetal heatspreader. as im not selling anything i can swap back if pc suddenly becomes unstable. but fingers crossed looks ok
