Does windows 11 home update automatically install gpu and other device drivers ?

I choose windows 10 pro over windows 10 home, so i was able to stop this happening through group policies, is it same for windows 11 home, or do you have to again get windows 11 pro to stop windows update downloading gpu and other device drivers ? thx

From a clean install, 11 also seems to try to phone home and look for drivers which match the hardware it has found during the install process. One option would be to have the drivers you want pre-downloaded onto a USB, not connect to a network, install from the USB, then connect to the network ?

That's a good ideal, but on a clean install, do we not need a connection to register my copy of win 11, i mean to link to my microsoft account ? thx

Yes it's the same however you don't necessarily need the pro versions to prevent it from doing so, group policies are nothing more than registry settings so while pro versions make them easier to change and keep track of you can import/edit the specific registry key manually.

let it use the network to get you to the desktop, then stop the Wi-Fi, install GPU and re-connect.

it’s doing to take a bit of time to suss out the drivers it needs, download and then install … you can intervene then.

Thx, yes i could just do as you say, install windows 11 and get to desktop, turn off wifi, and install all drivers, then reconnect, then check for updates, thx

Well when installing windows 11, it asks if you want a local account(offline) or tie it to your microsoft account, i want to tie it to my account i use now, not sure if i signup just for local account, then might not be able to signup later for a proper account.

Ah fair enough, thanks for reply. Yes I was thinking of local account as I was going to buy OEM key and don't think they are transferable ?

I will also only be getting a oem key, but i still want it tied to my main account, as i will still be using my windows 10 pc, oem really just means its for that motherboard/pc you install it on i think.
