Does Windows 8.1 have an issue activating in VirtualBox?

I wanted to create a Windows VM so I bought a key off ebay that doesn't want to work. I contacted the guy to let him know and he sent me a whole heap of keys to try and none of them work. I just want to check that there isn't an issue with activation in VirtualBox before I contact the seller again and/or ebay.

I've got a couple of instances activated in VirtualBox through occasionally they will boot up and throw a wobble about activation during the login process but are usually fine next reboot.

If he is throwing a whole bunch of keys are you then I'd be questioning where he is getting his keys from - sounds like he is just recycling keys none too discriminantly and even if one works today no guarantee it will continue to.
 
Probably gonna have to raise a dispute with ebay, the guy's being a total a-hole, accusing me of using the key and then trying to scam a refund from him etc etc.
 
No issues at all when i've activated an OS through Virtual Box, Sounds like you're being sent a dodgy key if he's throwing a bunch of keys randomly at you.
 
Uh, where exactly is this seller getting a bunch of keys? This sounds like the online equivalent of Delboy and Rodney.
 
I didn't really check but I assumed selling keys was his business since he has a feedback level of 700ish, 99% positive. I only paid £12 or something so its not the end of the world if i dont get a refund, still waiting for ebay to call me.
 
You won't get a legit key for £12.

If something seems too good to be true...

Buy from Microsoft or an established retailer such as OcUK.
