Just wondered if wireless causes high ping as my friend is thinking about switching to wireless from wired when he moves his computers around, will wireless give him a higher ping than with the cable, if so why?
I'm no expert on wireless but I'd say its because of 2 reasons:
1. As you know data is beeing transferred over airwaves which most likely are slower then a current travelling through wires. Not to mention signal strength which will cause curruption etc.
2. If wireless is set up properly then youll most likely be using a form of encryption which means all data sent around the network will have to be encrypted sent over wireless recieved and then de-encrypted.
Those 2 put together are more then likely to slow things down, but its a small price to pay over not having wires everywhere.
