my GTX 295 squeals when its pumping high frame rates so when vsync is off and the rendered screen is fairly easy to do. Generally that means intro screens (like Bink video as mentioned) or older games.

Can hear it very audibly during Crysis intro and also NWN1 with vsync off.

Both my gtx 285's squeal when going from scene to scene in 3d mark vantage, not heard my i7 scream though! At least i dont think so? Try doing a benchmark to see if you hear it more on cpu intensive tasks or on GPU intensive tasks. Don't think it does any harm though unless it gets really loud! Someone correct me here?

Hi all, after a slightly sarcastic post i got the 5850, it squealed when rendering bink and at a few other points. Really didnt like it, changed my psu from a £30 750 watt colors to a £100 750 watt corsair...squeal went completly in all situations. Just throwing it out there to those with noisy cards it may be your psu supplying bad power and the card having to work overtime (and thus squealing) to compensate.

Yeah the caps in my 260 squeal when folding, never heard a peep out of the CPU (Q6600) though.

I've had my GTX260 make a high pitched noise when vsync is not forced on. Can't say I've ever had a cpu scream. Agree with previous posts pointing to your mb or PSU making the noise.
