you can't hear the high pitched whistle like a hard drive spinning up but the pump continues to make it until he turns on the fan and then it's drowned out. ?
Well, humm, whistle, all the same to me! I can still hear a noise from mine!
Its annoying until you start playing a game, then the killing drowns it out!
I've not heard the new blue ones but the 3 or 4 i've heard of the old black and orange/brown ones all make the same annoying noise yet people still recommend the DDC for silent systems ?
My one doesn't make any noticible noise from inside most of it comes from vibrations so make sure you don't let it touch the case directly, use some padding or suspension. Also the pump in the video has an original top which is more noisy. I got an aftermarket thick acrylic top (not sure the make, probably Alphacool) which makes the pump quieter and gives better performance.
My 10w black impeller DDC (sat on a washing-up sponge on the base of a Lian-Li) makes a little bit of a sound when it starts up and then is really quiet.
All 3 (1 ultra, 2 pro's) of my ddc's have made a low humming noise. One of the main reason's i chose them was because they were recommended as being quiet, and the ehime i had before these was a lot quieter.
The 3 or 4 DDCs i've heard all make the same whistle even when suspended from elastic or mounted on rubber pump mounts and people say i'm nutz and thats the first time i've been able to post the sound i can hear from DDC pumps.
The sound reminds me of of electrical noise you get from the copper windings on the rotor , But maybe i shouldn't be so surprised as i can often hear monitors Screeching when the refresh rate is not set correctly and friends say they can not hear it.
I'm not sure but it's looking that way unless there is some differences between the ones made in the EU and the ones made in the USA ? I never checked country of origin on the ones i've heard apart from one i remember was marked EU Laing Hungary.
