Does your driving license number change if you request a new card?

Right the situation is this;

I lost my driving license a bit a go and so I ordered a replacement..
I then lost the replacement and found my old car (don't ask me how:confused:)

Now I've just booked my online motorcycle theory and put in my old drivers licence number.. will this be invalid? That's probably a daft question but I had the opportunity for a cancellation and I haven't got around to ordering another card yet!

PS I still have both counterparts.

Thanks.

To request a new card you have to send in your counterpart, don't you? In which case you will get the same number.

I'm pretty sure you will keep the same driver number for life.

the number stays the same

there is a number after your driver number which seems to change

I have 2 cards and one has 04 and the other 05

seems like some sort of issue number

Last 2 digits change [ones on their own on the license] as they are the issue number

The rest stays as its;

you surname[5 digits]
DOB [different order though]
First Initials [if no middle name then 2nd will be a "9"]
some computer thing [2 digits]
__S_P_A_C_E__
Issue No[2 digits]

They have issue numbers on them, but I do not think the actual driver number changes.

I did the same thing a few years back, and I had problems when I got caught for speeding. The police would not accept my old licence because I had a newer one.

I think the best thing to do is ask for another replacement card + counterpart and destroy your old ones. That way you know the only copy you have is the current version. Saves confusion this way.

My license details have been used multiple times without my permission or knowledge. I've been disqualified from driving and I don't even own a car. I live in London and the alleged offences have been in areas where I've never been to. I'm due to get my license back. But I feel like the same thing is going to happen again and again unless I can change my driving licence number? Have you ever come across anything like this before? I actually think that I'm going to have to change quite a few different personal details due to having my identity stolen on multiple occasions. The police seem to ignore any of my attempts to take action. But they don't seem to understand how to rectify this problem

I'd speak to the DVLA, given your previous experiences, I'd be surprised if they couldn't help.
