Can anyone here who has lost planet:EC (steam version)
Test to see if there's will load up ok...

Seen a few people were getting this went using the Steam Client Beta
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?p=11618722#post11618722

Lost planet when launching the DX9 and DX10 version says 'Steam is not running, unable to find steam' and you have to exit the game with this beta

But am not & never have used the beta

btw is it worth playing this game ? i remember the demo was ok but once i bought the game i never got round to playing it.

I have only played it for about 30mins to an hour myself ages ago..
My PC hardware i had went i bought this game didn't cope very well

same, however as usual with bloody steam they had it on offer and it was rude not to buy ;p

cracking game tbh with some amazing visuals and plenty of stuff to shoot and blow up ... worth a few quid of anyones cash imo !

It was working but it's busted now - there was a Steam update a few days ago - looks like it's hosed Lost Planet

Yes game is well worth playing some amazing gfx & bosses/environments with typical Capcom Japan gameplay & storyline

I have both the retail DVD-Rom versions (one is the Extreme Colonies edition with additional ingame content ike MP maps & weapons/skins).

Mine did work, a while ago on Vista.

I have installed win7 and formatted since.

I will install it after work and see if I get the same problem.

Cannot find my backup DVD of the game so cannot even install it to test. Don't wanna DL it again... Sorry.

It works now by using the new steam beta client

There's a new Steam Beta client available. To access the Beta, go to File -> Settings. On the Account tab press the Change... button to open the Beta Participation dialog. Then Select Steam Client Beta, and allow Steam to restart itself. Here are the specific changes:

- Fixed "STEAM is not running" and "Failed to initialize Steam" errors in Lost Planet: Extreme Condition and Race 07
