Does your post count matter to you?

it matters a lot to me, I am very proud of mine and often use it as a means of proving I'm correct when arguing with the wife or other French people ...

Doesn't actually mean anything though does it?

It doesn't represent how long a person has been "contributing" to the forum, nor the quality of their contribution since post counts can be sold & bought for charity or reset at will...

They'd be better off hidden for the benefit of those that seem to think they mean anything. ;)

If you remove post counts from being visible though, it removes the different levels in avatars really.

I don't care for the post count, but I like that there are levels for the avatars, and I like my 5000post one. :)

Without the post count I'd either be on no avatar or just on hitman, even with 5000posts.

I sold all mine for Rememberance Day thingy, you get to keep the avatar choices...THE MACHINE KNOWS MAN!

Post counts don't really mean much to me. I won most of mine in a Red Nose Day auction a couple of years ago along with RP2000. I guess 2-3K is a more realistic post count for me.
As with many others I have been around a while now, and read a lot of threads, but have dropped into the not posting much myself group.

Yes, but I'm special...so if there were no visible post count I'd have never changed avatars due to never knowing when I'd hit the points. Obviously now it'd be fine, as I have my 5k avatar. :p

Personally I view "Joined" date as more of a status symbol than post count - from my perspective there's a certain kudos attached to people with Oct 2002 (previously Mar 2001) under their name.

Of course, just because someone has been here since before the last nuke, it doesn't mean to say their posts are any better than someone who joined this month. But at least most such posters tend to not be short-term trolls and the like.

180 and counting,

I was glad when i reached 100 so i could have an Avatar and 250 would be nice for the MM.

Its not like i sit here all night, every night, refreshing the page constantly, waiting for someone to post something i can reply to, Honest ;)

I usually recognise posters from their Signature alone, or failing that I can put their avatar + name together and usually work out if I've seen them around before. It doesn't really matter to me.. most people's post count has been reset/reduced in some way anyway.

If someone has been around for little time, and has a big post count then I typically ignore them as a spammer. El_Razur for example.

Is there a limit for the post count? Some kind of vBulletin barrier?

I read much more than i post, i've been here 4 years and not even reached 1000 yet.

I did post a fair bit when i joined though.

It mattered to me until I hit 100 and then after that I really didnt bother with it.

But as everyone knows you are your post count. ;)

I have been a member of this forum for just a while now!
