...It happens at the end of your road. I'm always reading about people been beaten/stabbed but it don't really sink in until it happens within your own little sphere of influence...

A 43 year old Father and Husband was beaten for a bottle of wine....1 £4 bottle of wine at my local shops on Sunday evening, he later died from his injuries on Monday.

What the hell is happening with kids these days?

Because schools now pay kids to turn up, they need to give them a good beating... with a baseball bat... with a rusty nail through it, see how those chavs like it.

To many stories like this showing up these days, youth scum have no value for life. I hope they live a terrible life for doing such things.

Saw this on the news last night, and was really shocked. Lichfield has a reputation of being quite an upmarket place, so you don't expect it there.

Whole country is going to the dogs :(

To be honest, they aren't being punished enough either. Always blamed on the parents - some where, some time the shifting of blame has to stop.

If you was being beat down as a kid sorry and all, but I can bet you didn't like it - so don't do it to others.

All I see now is kids whining "mummy give me this" responded to by "don't you ever shut the ****** hell up? stop asking for things". No parenting skills, all they see is parents smoking, drinking and acting like retards.

But I am afraid they are born with those parents, well guess what son - your parents may have been trash, but they aren't forcing you to stab people. Prison sentences need to be longer, for young offenders perhaps stints in the army or something similar.

Been ex-forces myself...I and the lads I was with were against this kind of punishment...we wouldn't have wanted trash like that been the person you would want to have to put your life into their hands when the **** hit the fan.

Cannon fodder my good man! (chav fodder if you will).

There's quite clearly a parenting issue here. These little ***** have kids, then raise them to be like them, filthy scumbags.

Everyday I drive past a nearby school. Often I see a mother walking along with her young son. She always has her ipod plugged into her ears...

For goodness sake... Can you not talk to your own child for just 15 minutes while walking them to school?

I live in a pretty nice area, and there have been 3 serious assaults in the last fortnight (including a stabbing). I'm looking for someone to blame. Can anyone think of someone that I could blame?.

The simple fact is that when laws changed to say that parents could not punish their children or schools could not discipline ill behavior it all changed.

When i was at boarding school and moved uo to the senior boarding house at 12 we respected the sixth formers and would not be cheeky, mouth off etc or we would be in trouble. As soon as we hit the upper sixth the child protection act came in. The young lads in the house and the sixth formers were told what the new laws were in no uncertain terms. Immidiately the young lads were gobbing off, giving lip to older pupils, teachers and the publich because they know nothing could be done.

Catch them young and a short shap shock gave the knowledge that what they were doing ewas wrong and wouldnt be tolerated. Thats just not possible anymore. Im not talking about beating up youngsters or anything but discipline and respect has goine out of the window and overall the nation has become soft.

The people responsible for the murder of this poor man over a bottle of wine shoul be made an example of.

Probably drunk and not scared of the police or their parents, I was always scared of getting told off. They hang around in packs and act like pack animals, more police on the streets and in areas they congregate, basically the parents just let them go out so they can have a quiet night in getting drunk and watching TV.

We use to go round to each others house and listen to some music, play poker or go on the N64.

Just baffles me why someone would take a life over a stupid bottle of wine.

They didn't... They just wanted to pick a fight, and any reason would do.

I suspect they didn't have the IQ or compassion to realise kicking someone in the head, and/or hitting them over the head with a brick might actually kill them, yet alone just severely wound them

It all started in May 1997, that's when the Country was tied down with barbed wire and repeatedly raped in the arse by the current government.

No concept of right or wrong. Influence of "gangsters" in rap. Parents not giving a toss. Kids think it makes them seem harder if a gang of them beat up an adult.
It's a messed up situaiton and it gives youth a bad name, makes me sick.

Probably also has something to do with multiculturalism, which has upsides and downsides, people come from a less developed culture, where there is more crime and violence is more accepted.

Poor parenting.

^^This. But perhaps with a little meat on the bones. It's pretty much evolution. The latch key child has evolved. They now no longer just let themselves in when they come home from school. They let themselves out when they should be doing homework or spending time with the family. The parents are rarely concerned because the child is merely the by product of the target of extra income through benefits or a social statement of, "I have children."

The thought of actually sitting at the same table as them and having a conversation is simply alien. We blame it on the kids but the rot has to set in somewhere. Stick a cat or dog on the streets for long enough and it soon becomes feral. This isn't a million miles away from that.
